It was by chance that I found out about a drive in cinema in Sydney and didn’t think long at all to book the tickets. It feels like it is very popular but at the same time it was new to me. Outdoor cinema is one of the best option for summer! For those who live in other part of Sydney, like me, it will be quite a drive, but as soon as you get there, you feel why it’s worth it!
Once you are there
After a warm welcome you drive to the area depending on the movie you chose. Two screenings take place at the same time. The area in front of the screen is divided into sections so that cars can be parked in designated rows. Small size cars can stand in front, and all jeeps, utes, etc. are slightly more rear due to their size.
You receive a specific frequency to set out your radio. In that case the sound from the movie will be heard from your car speakers.
What else to know?
There are toilets available. There is a snack bar for dinks, popcorn or any other nibbles. You might be considering earlier arrival to sit and eat at the bar. The atmosphere of the place is pretty cool, check out these photos.
Get comfortable!
We adjusted the front seats in our sedan and it worked as well as expected. Your options depends on your car and preference. I noticed that people who had a bigger cars, were parked backwards and sat in the trunk. Some of them were well prepared since they had pillows, blankets and decorative lights. Romantic and lovely 😊
If you like unusual cinemas, without doubt this is a “must do” !
