I have discovered Sydney National Park last year. Located in eastern suburb of Sydney – Vaucluse, it has a great view of the city skyline! Hermitage Foreshore Track is not more than 4km return walk, which might take you about an hour. Take your own water as there is no water refill station along the way.
I recommend you to park your car as much as close to Bayway Hill Rd. to start your walk near the entrance. Literally just after you start this walk you will be welcomed with beautiful city view. There are quite a lot of spots on the walk path where you can rest and enjoy the gorgeous Sydney, either on the bench or on your own picnic blanket, if you brought one. It is not just the city view, you will also pass few beaches, like Queens Beach, Milk Beach, so why not to have a swim with Sydney panorama view on a summer day!
The walk is easy and very rewarding, but be prepared to go up and down on many steps. Warning, this walk is not suitable for baby pram.
Hermitage Foreshore Track finish at the Shark Beach, one of the biggest beaches on the way. Also the water colour is amazing here! You will find public toilet facilities and café here where you can get your snacks and beverage. Next I absolutely recommend you to go up on the hill, as the view of city and ocean is stunning!
If you come by car, on the way back you will need to go exactly same way. For those who choose public transport, there is a way to get to the Vaucluse Rd and catch a bus from there.
For nature lovers there is even more in my other post “Finding nature in the city”.
