You just met someone and want to organise a cool date? Or maybe you are bored at home but date in restaurant doesn’t sound excited anymore? Sometimes it is easy to get stuck in a rut, sometimes we don’t know how many options we actually have. I point out for you 10 date ideas you can do in Sydney.
Picnic with a view
Many times the best experience we can have doesn’t cost much. Sydney is one of the best cities to be surrounded by amazing nature and admire ocean view. Prepare snack, bring a blanket and enjoy your picnic! Last time we went to Watsons Bay and had a truly magical sunset date (find a full guide to Watsons Bay here).
I will give you couple of good spots for amazing date: Dudley Page Reserve, Cremorne Point, Observatory Hill, Milk Beach (park area), Royal Botanic Garden.
If you want to make your experience more luxury and don’t worry at all about the setup, there are companies that will take care of that. We had an amazing evening organised by Magic Escape, so I know you won’t regret booking with them.
Drive-in Cinema
We all like movies, don’t we? But ordinary cinema doesn’t sound too much excited anymore. Spice up your movie night by going to car cinema instead! Book your tickets, park your car and choose to sit inside or in the trunk (I saw some couples having blankets, pillows, and bobble lights – very cosy!). There is also a bar for snack and restrooms whenever you need. You can read about my experience here.
Drinks or dinner with City view
Sydney bar scene has so much to offer. Choose a place where drink won’t actually matter, because the view will do the job! Maybe go to Bar 83 in Sydney Tower Eye, or Blue Bar? Those are two of many places where I love to gaze through the window!

Painting on canvas
Paint and sip is getting popular in here! To illustrate, what does this event looks like, it is simply a painting workshop over a drink and snack. I guarantee that you will have amazing time! We have done it with Kerem twice and had a lot of fun (read here). You do not have to be an artists or, its all about joy.
Hanging out with animals
If you like animals this date idea is for you! Skip main tourists attractions and go somewhere more wild. Go to Auburn Botanic Gardens in Sydney – the park is so nice and also you can hang out with peacock, kangaroos and wombats.
If you don’t mind driving, Morisset is a place I like to go to get closer to wild kangaroos. Its 1,5h drive and would be the closest one from Sydney.
Ice – skating
Ice Zoo in Alexandria is the best ice rink in Sydney. It is indoor, so you can go there all over the year. There is an option to rent all the equipment you need, therefore you don’t need to worry about anything than a warm sweater – it is pretty cold in there, although skating around on the hot date will warm you up for sure! ?
Walks & hikes
Another cool date idea is hike or a walk. There are plenty of hikes to choose from, depends on how far you want to walk and location too. We have beautiful coastal walks in the city, Sydney Harbour National Park is also my top choice! You can easily get there by public transport as well. At the same time we have Royal National Park, Ku- ring Gai National Park and many more if you wish to hop in the car!

Riding a bike
If you like active dates, this idea is for you. Rent a bike (or bring your own, if you have one) and enjoy the road! Centennial Park is big enough to spend some time riding around the ponds, stop for a coffee or take an ice-cream break!

Guided tour at The Rocks
What if you become a tourist in your own city for an evening? There is so much to discover in a beautiful area of The Rocks. I recommend I’m Free Sydney tours with guide. You will learn interesting stories back in time and after all you can enjoy a drink in one of the cool bars!
Axe throwing
I would never expect I will have such a fun playing with an axe throwing. We went to Kiss my Axe for Thursdays night dates and it was totally surprising for me how cool it is organised! The team make a competition, they are very entertaining, its just a great fun. Totally wasn’t on my list, but trust me on this – its worth trying.
Let me know which date idea you like the best. Or perhaps you can add from your experience! That would be very cool to extend the list.
